postheadericon Recently I was dating someone who works for the NSA and he hacked into my Yahoo/internet. Is that legal?

This person abused the knowledge he has of the internet and computers – his training. He obviously has emotional issues as he felt he had to spy on me and my child, as my son uses the pc as well. My computer was acting odd, as was my Internet and my Yahoo Messenger. I suspected he was hacking into my pc, and then he admitted it. He accused me of things that did not occur, so I am not sure just what his motivation was. However, it does make me very uncomfortable that this is a person whom we trust to watch over our safety and he chooses to abuse and stalk the private sector in his spare time. There are hearings going on right now about the possibilities of this exact personal abuse transpiring by members of the NSA to the public. I can tell you it does occur. I cannot believe this is legal or just. It certainly is terrifying as I use my pc for personal finances, etc. Now I no longer feel secure in my own home. How can I defend my privacy and my rights?

postheadericon Where can my 11 yr old niece talk about mature topics online?

She’s very curious and loves talk about anything and everything. After a bad experience on Facebook, her parents decided she should create an account somewhere that isn’t connected to her in real life where she can talk about whatever she wants without damage from friends & family. Of course, her parents would monitor the account for her safety. She and her parents already have a great open and honest conversation where she gets most of her questions answered but there are age related issues they can’t answer. For example, her parents have already answered her questions about masturbation but she wants to know if and how much she can talk about with friends her age without feeling outcast. (Btw, I know some people will object to a kid talking about mature topics at her age, but she’s going to do it anyway, so her parents want her supervised and to trust her parents.)

But Yahoo Answers and girlsaskguys.com have age limits and she’s too young. What’s a place that’s professional and legit but without an age limit?
Strangely, I can’t find a single pre-teen forum from Google. Maybe 11-12 year olds never use forums? Just old farts like me.

postheadericon can i do anything about my apt manager?

the manager of the place i live has been posting video blogs and other things on youtube and livevideo.com. some of the videos arent exactly appropriate. i got word of the stuff going on and looked it up. i saw the videos. then i did a yahoo search of his name and it seems that he was hacking into peoples accts at one time. because of this his name and the address of the community i live in are posted all over the internet. i have a child and just about everyone that lives here have children too. some people are very angry about the videos and the hacking thing. with the address on the internet im afraid for my childs and the other children in the neighborhoods safety. moving is not an option and no one really knows how to get in touch with the owner. is there anything legal we can do about this so that he wont be the manager and would have to leave the complex?
the videos arent of me but they do show him doing explicit things (showing himself, etc) and he does show the neighborhood and has some of the people that live here in the videos, they didnt know they would be put on the internet. he is hired as the management and we dont really know how to get in touch with the owner to get him fired.

postheadericon Do you want Congress to make your isp provider snoop on you(more than they do)?

A prominent "REPUBLICAN" has prepared legislation that would "REQUIRE" that your service provider keep logs of all Americans online activities.
The companys, like Yahoo,Windows and Google that didn’t comply would be fined for one year.
Wisconsin rep. F. James Sensenbrener, thought this brilliant one up,so police would have it easier conducting investigations etc.
This means they will get every little bit of information about you, your parents, who you contact, what sites you visit, your "age" where you live, what you say,"there goes answers".
His legislation is very vague on the "Explotation of todays youth Act"
or "Internet Safety Act" Here are some comments from people.
quote: The internet Safety Act"follows along line of bad laws in the name of children"
CONGRESS surrenders-Freedom eliminated=Terrorist "WIN"
Tell me again, why young kids are dying in Iraq?
I personaly wonder what the F, stands for,and I hope Wisconsin people get rid of this threat to all of us.

postheadericon Is this not blatant discrimination against non-religious people?

Excerpted from Time online article about safety of vaccines (http://news.yahoo.com/s/time/20080522/hl_time/howsafearevaccines)
"Despite the rules requiring students to be vaccinated, doctors can issue waivers to kids whose compromised immune system might make vaccines risky. Additionally, all but two states allow waivers for children whose parents object to vaccines on religious grounds; 20 allow parents to opt out on philosophical grounds."

So, that means that in 48 of 50 states I can object to vaccines on religious grounds, but in only 20 of 50 states can I object on philosophical grounds.

postheadericon Any suggestions for a safe email service for children?

I’m looking at setting up an email account for each of my two small kids. However, I’m paranoid about their safety while online or what they receive. Any suggestions on a free service or opinions if Yahoo! Mail will work. Or any advice on what to look out for.
